    Svanhild Publications is an outgrowth of the vast publishing industry. The existence of seemingly countless individual companies and their varied agenda appears to the new writer as an industrial mountain that is not only formidable, but also impenetrable.


    Their agendas, in most cases, are really their agendas, and unless you really fit, you are not very welcome. However, you can inquire, submit your manuscript, and conform to their requirements as the years roll by; only to learn that their activities are other than your driving interest. Books from these companies, some noteworthy, many evidently trivial, fill the shelves of the many book stores, your book having no place among them.


    To understand that they do not need or want you is the path to understanding that you really do not need them. They have not yet lost their purpose, but for most writers, they may have forgotten yours. Information distribution has now entered the 21st century. If you write well, you can probably write a book. If you have written a book, you can probably self-publish, and may need to.


    It appears that as large as the publishing industry is, it is not yet quite large enough, it is the reason for Svanhild Publications’ existence. This may very well be the proper direction for you, as well. Svanhild Publications is the result of our own venture into self-publishing.
